Jose Maria Vilaplana (JMV) has been the master luthier at Alhambra for more than 35 years; he started building guitars with his father when he was only 16 years old, and is one of the founders of Alhambra guitars. There are several models built by him and they are sold under his name as signature guitars, rather than under the Alhambra name.
A maestro of great patience, JMV dedicated much time analyzing the past history of guitar making, as well as investigating the present moment of this noble art, with the objective of designing the finest of instruments imaginable. Following in the footsteps of the brilliant guitarist and luthier from Málaga, Antonio Torres, he succeeded in his objective, with his JMV Serie NT: this instrument has a breath-taking sound quality, which is all-enveloping and both powerful and delicate. It is no surprise that this is the instrument of choice of many of the world’s greatest performers.
The José María Vilaplana Serie NT features solid red cedar top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, Spanish cedar neck, (internally reinforced with ebony), and luxurious gold-plated head tuners. Exquisite French polish finish. A very exclusive guitar for the most exacting guitarist. Alhambra by BAM guitar case 9568 included. Alhambra by BAM AB ICONIC 9270 as an option.
The Camps PRIMERA NEGRA guitar from Hermanos Camps is a professional flamenco guitar which is light to hold, punchy and fast responding. The Primera Negra model is a concert-level instrument, which has greater projection than its Blanca counterpart, due to the more rigid and stiff woods used to construct the back and sides. Although still a flamenco, this model in the Camps flamenco series could also be used to perform a classical repertoire, so for the flamenco guitarist seeking versatility, this option is an excellent choice. With solid spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides and a very open and vibrant sound. This model is certified by renowned musician Manuel Granados before it is allowed to leave the Camps workshop, to ensure it meets his exacting standards. Lovely gloss finish. Guitar case included. The Ramirez Guitarra Del Tiempo is a commemorative guitar designed to celebrate the 135th birthday of the founding of Guitarras Ramirez in 1882. José Ramírez I started building his sublime Spanish instruments at the end of the 19th century and his craftsmanship has been passed down through each generation of the Ramirez family with the very same passion and pursuit for perfection. This limited-edition guitar replaces the model 130 años and every now and again will have some changes in the design, whilst preserving its natural sound and spirit. This is why it is called Guitarra Del Tiempo: it will travel in time and evolve as each significant anniversary is celebrated. The shape of the Guitarra Del Tiempo, dimensions and internal bracing are the same as those used to build the model 130 años, but with a more advanced construction and a different rosette which was especially designed for the occasion. The Ramirez Guitarra del Tiempo features a solid red cedar top or solid spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, cedar neck with ebony fingerboard and rosewood bridge. A very exclusive guitar and a special model for collectors. Guitar case included.
The Ramirez Estudio 3 is the third of the upgraded models in the new studio line from Jose Ramirez guitars and as such, is top of the line in this collection of instruments. Every model in this line is made of solid woods and includes an improved internal design for more volume and projection. The newly-designed headstock and rosette, exquisitely created by Amalia Ramirez herself, are the first visual indications that the new Studio Line has been given a makeover, but the improved sound and overall quality of the craftsmanship are the biggest draws in this new line of guitars. The Ramirez Estudio 3 is built with a solid cedar top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides and ebony fretboard. A great guitar for advanced students and professionals looking for the legendary Ramirez sound at an affordable price. Guitar case included.
The Alhambra Luthier Aniversario guitar is at the top of the series of 50th Anniversary commemorative models made to celebrate Alhambra Guitars’ half century, some ten years ago now. The new Luthier model features a solid cedar top and a breathtaking solid ziricote body which gives it a vibrant personality and unusual beauty. The sound is superb: an unparalelled harmonic richness combined with precise tuning make it the perfect instrument to grace any auditorium or concert hall in the world. Lush rosewood headstock, ebony fingerboard, luxury tuners, and detail on the bridge to match the rosette. This is a limited-edition guitar, and is an excellent opportunity for collectors. Every Alhambra Luthier Aniversario guitar is unique: the patterns in the wood are exclusive to each instrument. Alhambra 9557 guitar case included. Alhambra 9650 with hygrometer or Alhambra ICONIC guitar case as options.
